- You can now travel from St Elmo thru to Pitkin, as part of the Alpine Tunnel Road closure has been opened per CORE representative.
- West Alpine Tunnel Road from Hancock Pass is still closed, but the section that goes from Hancock to Pitkin is now open for travel.

- I drove the full pass Friday afternoon, Hancock Pass Road and Hancock Pass Jeep Trail FSR 266. The earlier mentioned snow closure on FSR 299 at
11,880 is doable if you stay in the tracks.
- However, the west Alpine Tunnel Road FSR 839 is currently CLOSED due to rock scaling associated with the
Palisades Wall trail repairs so you can not get through to Pitkin.

- Did Corkscrew Gulch and Hurricane Pass no problem.
- But from Hurricane Pass to California Pass looked snowbound and icy. However, a 2 door Jeep Rubicon did decide to try it.
The Rubicon came across a section of road that was icy - tried it maybe 5 times, got out and looked at it, never succeeded in getting
past it to go on up to the pass. We both went back to Gladstone.

- Hurricane Pass is OPEN per dozer driver Max's update today from nearby to Queen Anne Mine at N37.91388 / W107.63617 at 12,000ft.
where the wind was blowing!
- Max has cleared the trail to the top but trail is CLOSED past there. He has cleared the trail around half down to Como Lake,
yet this section is closed as there is no suitable turn around point.
- Remember - if it's closed, it's closed!
- With the weather that's approaching for the weekend, Max expects the trail may be impassable to the top. Take heed and don't risk
your life, nor the life of rescue personnel.

- Medano Pass Primitive Road is OPEN all the way. Damaged spots have been repaired by NPS and NFS.
- The sand pit was nicely packed due to dampness of the sand. The air pump at the west end of the trail was not working so remember
to bring your own air compressor to refill your tires.

- Medano Pass Primitive Road is FULLY OPEN all the way over the pass. All 21 campsites are accessible by 4WD vehicle.
- Sand sections of the trail are somewhat more firm due to recent rain. Reducing tire pressure to 20 psi might not be necessary for some vehicles.
- As per usual, the air station at the southern entrance of the road is available to refill tires. NOTE - if you reduce tire pressure
and continue past the sand section into the rocky roadbed of Medano Canyon, you WILL NEED YOUR OWN compressor to refill your tires to
reduce potential damage your tires.
- Creek crossings are low due to dry regional conditions and low snowpack. Keep in mnd, thunderstorms may temporarily boost flow.

- Trail is open but rough. They are still cleaning up from the storms that had previously closed this road. They have filled in everything
that was washed out and removed all the trees blocking the roads.

- Medano Pass Primitive Road remains CLOSED between Creek Crossing 4 to the top of the pass.
- CLOSURE MAP.
- Temporary closure in place on the southern entrance of the road at Creek Crossing 4
, 37.808393N - 105.479775W, just north of the Herard family 1870s homestead site. Also gate closure in place at Medano Pass coming
the other direction from Highway 69. Trail will remain Closed until the park can assess the damage from a late May snowstorm that
caused deep erosion of the road and large sinkholes due to runoff resulting in unsafe travel on the road.
- The park does not have a projected date for opening but staff will keep visitors updated on the parks webpage and social media outlets.
- The road remains OPEN from the south to Creek Crossing 4, providing access to ten 4WD first-come/first-serve campsites equipped with bear boxes
and fire rings.
- As per usual, four-wheel drive, high clearance vehicles are required beyond, to the north of, Point of No Return parking lot
at 37.758102N, -105.501282W.
- Medano Lake Trail is accessible by foot from Creek Crossing 4 by hiking towards top of Medano pass to then access Medano Lake
Trailhead. Alternatively, drive to Medano Pass from State Highway 69, park at the pass, and walk down to the trailhead.

- Moody Hill Road FSR 513 is OPEN! The gate at the top is still closed so you have to go back out to Buckhorn Road 44H.
- Trail is rough and rocky. You may also encounter downed trees so be prepared. Beware, there is a section that has a big gully down
the middle of the road that is 4 feet deep in spots. Please stay on the road, do not go around!

** Yes, Mosquito Pass is OPEN to dirt bikes.
- We completed Mosquito Pass from Leadville to Alma on dual sport bikes today. I think we were the first through. There is a 20 yard snow drift at 12,674 feet just above the highest mine on the Alma side.
- Motorcycles can get through with some work. We stomped down the deeper snow to hard pack and then rode over the 20 yard snow drift with zero tire pressure.
** NOTE: Dual track vehicles will not get through the current snow drift, they have to wait a week or two or try to shovel through.

- Mosquito is now OPEN from the Alma side also, via CR 12.
- We passed the last remaining snow field today on 4 dirt bikes. The snow field is just below the peak, about half mile down, on the East side that is.
** NOTE - The trail up from the east side may still be impassable for 4 wheeled vehicles. Be prepared to turn back!

- From Leadville, the west side, mostly dry until about a mile from the Diamond Mine, where the road is partially covered with melting snow. Much deeper (8+ inches) packed but slushy snow 1/4 mile from the mine - so before the 4wd section even begins.

- Made it to top of road. Ran into a snow drift and rock in the road at the
last switchback 100 yards from the top (of the road.)
I made it through on dirt bike. The rock should be able to be moved easily. The drift is covering 1/3 of the road and might be
drivable or shoveled. It is not very long 10ft.
- Creek crossings are full but manageable.

is CLOSED by a large downed tree shortly after (100 yards) after the winter gate.
- Trail was clear and dry, but was blocked by a recently downed tree just 100 yards in from the winter gate. Maybe a kind soul

- Trail is OPEN all the way.
- I traveled it North to South in a JLUR with 2.5" lift and 35's. I was warned that this trail was very tight and they were correct.
I would say it is a SXS or dirt bike course on the north side. On the north side it is tight turning sections of trees, roots and
brown dirt/mud. I would only do this trail when dry and expect to be aggressive.
- I recommend running this north to south. There were several washed and rutted out off camber sections. Definitely earns the
difficult rating on the north half. The south section is more open and rocky that we expect in Colorado.

- I drove to Pearl Pass today, from the Aspen side. Someone came over from Crested Butte earlier today, and drove downhill across
the last snowfield which is covering the road at 12,265ft.
- I wasn't able to go uphill across the snow at 38.984889, -106.828578
until I chained up the truck and carefully crept the hundred or so yards of snow which remains making the track a challenge, but
trafficable.

** The trail is OPEN from Aspen right up to a snow blockade at the second switchback above the Wilson-Green and Tagert huts. This is
at 11,720 ft., at 38.998500, -106.840024.
- Plan ahead so you can make a safe turn around before encountering the snowbank.
- I dug through the previous snow pile to allow access to a good place to turn my truck around, one turn before Bushducks FB photo of July 2, 2022.
- REMINDER: We all need to be accountable for our actions in the high country. Carl met two Forest Service employees who indicated that
they would be making a presence in the area this year, and writing tickets for any violations in the high country.
- There hasn't been any law enforcement in the last three years. Summer 2022 is an opportune time to demonstrate we all value
the high country. Stay the Trail & respect the high country flora and fauna.
- Watch this space, melting space.... yet don't expect the trail to open fully for some time yet.

- Trail has a lot of washed out areas going through the trees, would suggest a minimum of 3” lift and 35” tires unless you don’t
mind touching. The steep exit has actually gotten wider over the years but not for the timid. Fun trail!

- Trail is OPEN all the way.
- Very scenic ride all the way up. Had lunch on the top so we could see for miles.
- Trail is a little skinny in places above the tree line but not too bad. Had 4 stock Jeeps with us and no problems.
- Suggest trail-drivers do not air down in Montezuma, as you may find residents come out and yell at you. As an FYI, and a courtesy
to residents, we use Peru Creek parking lot for airing.

- FSR 520 is OPEN.
- Passenger car accessible to Lost Trail Trailhead. Beyond Lost Trail, high clearance and 4x4 required, expect some technical spots,
deep ruts, and loose rocks. Except high waters at the Pole Creek crossing after rains and in spring.

- Drove this from west (Silverton area) to east (Creede area) in a Jeep JK with a 3.5" lift and 35" tires. Didn't have any trouble
but there was a portion of the trail on the Hinsdale County side that would be challenging for stock vehicles, especially with recent
rain and washouts.
- The west side of the pass is in good shape. Steep in some places, mostly rocky, some evidence of runoff from the recent rain, but
overall in good shape and would be ok for stock 4x4 vehicles as long as drivers are comfortable with the portions that are a shelf
road.
- Going east from the pass, the portion of the trail down to the intersection with the trail that goes to Kite Lake was mostly ok,
although there is some evidence runoff from recent rain. It's mostly muddy but in fairly good shape.
- The next 3-4 miles east of the intersection with the trail that goes to Kite Lake were bad and while I talked to the driver of a
stock Jeep that had made it through, the driver said it was terrible for her, and after driving it myself, I agree that it's do-able,
but sketchy for a stock vehicle. There are numerous water crossings and some are slightly deep, but the worst conditions were caused
by washouts from runoff from all of the rain, including a portion of the trail that is deeply rutted and very off camber for stock
vehicles. There are also some steep areas that are somewhat washed out that required careful wheel placement. And, a lot of mud.
- Going east after that tough portion, the trail was in decent shape, and then finally the trail becomes more of a dirt road that
goes from the Rio Grande Reservoir to Hwy 149.

resources or both. We will update when we get all the trees removed or the road becomes drivable with no obstacles.

- 1. At the cabin just above treeline, at 12050 ft, below Sheep Mountain, but there is a route that goes around at this point

- 2. Once at the "T" intersection with Montezuma-Deer Creek Road FSR 5.1, in the saddle at the top at
39.513389, -105.862528 when traveling left towards the Deer Creek/St. Johns/Radical/etc junctions, there is another snow drift.
- Both drifts have alternative routes around them. Overall, good conditions :)

- We turned onto Garibaldi Gulch Road FSR 356.1 and travelled the well washed out trail up to Mt Wise cabin. Well worth it for those not troubled by scuffs
and scratches.

- After you cross the creek and start to ascend
Garibaldi Gulch Road up FSR 356.1, there is a tree that may hinder some vehicles due to height restrictions approximately
50 yards past the creek. The tree is laying angled.
- Also, when you continue up FSR 356.1 and have passed the short spur trail to Wise Mt Cabin, then continuing up the crest from Wise Mountain,
there is a "Y" in the trail. The right side, upper side is blocked by snow, but the left being the lower side is clear to the top
to take you on thru to intersect with
Saints John Road FSR 275.1 at 12,440 ft.

- Trail is OPEN on Tincup (town,) Taylor Park side of the pass to around
N38.72029 W106.43963 at 11,700 ft. elevation.
- All previous vehicle tracks stop at this point. It is all untracked snow above this. Looks like solid snow from here to the
top of the pass.
- There are some significant lingering snow drifts starting around 10,700ft. They are tracked enough that a stock non-locker 3rd
gen 4Runner with good tires can pass. Snow drifts higher up would not have been passable without prior tracks which were about tire height deep.
- As per usaul, Mirror Lake at 10,960ft. is mildly flooding the road, less than 6" at this stage.
- Bonus to Tincup Pass travelers - Frenchy's Cafe on the Pond is scheduled to OPEN its door for 2022 in early June!

- Drove the pass in a 2-door Jeep JK with a 3.5" lift and 35s, but none of that is needed, as this trail is fine for a stock SUV
or even something like a Subaru wagon if driven with care.
- Some washboard on the east side of the pass (CR-22) but nothing major.
- Overall trail is in good shape and easy to drive. West side is a bit rockier than the east side.
- NOTE: Because of the closure on US-285, when coming from the Denver area, you can take CR-5 to get to CR-22 on the East side
of the pass if running it east to west instead of taking the posted detour.

- FYI we drove a Stock Xterra S with a 2 inch lift.
- We ran Weston Pass East to West. Hwy 285 is closed from Fairplay to Antero Junction due to bridge construction, just a snitch north
of the Weston Pass road. HOWEVER, from the south you can drive all the way to the road closure point and then take the Weston Pass Road.
From the north you would have to take a few county roads to get from the next road heading west down to Weston Pass road,
but it is doable.
- The pass itself is in decent condition, not too bad even without airing down. Watch for dispersed campers on the west
side as there are a lot of them.

- Pool Table Road FSR 600 is OPEN and passible to Hanson's Mill camping area in a passenger car.
** Road to Wheeler is CLOSED beyond Hanson's Mill.
- NO access to El Blanco Road FSR 600.3A as FSR 600 is Closed at the mill.
- Aqua Ramon Road FSR 630 is OPEN. The upper sections are rocky. Note: NO ACCESS to Pool Table Road via EL Blanco Road due to
seasonal gate closure to Wheeler Geo District.

- Trail remains OPEN all the way.
- Trail is in good shape. There are a couple of good sized water crossings, but nothing too deep.

- Very dry and dusty. A few trees partially blocking the road.
5/17/22 - Divide Ranger District Rio Grande NF.
- Pool Table Road FSR 600 is OPEN to Hanson's Mill Camping area, N37.81278 W106.74004,
at 10,800 ft., at the intersection of West Alder hiking trail #798 and Wheeler hiking trail #790.
- Pool Table Road from Hanson's Mill to Wheeler is currently closed.
- Nearby Agua Ramon Road FSR 630 is OPEN. The upper sections are rocky. The junction to Wheeler is gated seasonally.

- Trail is OPEN all the way.
- Took 18 Jeeps up to the lake. The 3 main obstacles are in the usual condition. The trail leading up to the lake has gotten
considerably rougher over the years, so be prepared for a rough ride.
- The obstacles are fun with different lines for most any type of challenge you like. You might consider doing the obstacles and turn
around beforehand if you don't want the rough ride.
- Bowling Ball hill right before the lake, trail is loose, couple of rigs had to use lockers to get up. Great trail overall!
